Tony the Turtle – Part IV

This time the white room was moving!  The male Big-Two-Legger was carrying me to what looked like a giant green turtle shell!

What kind of madness is this? Were the Big-Two-Leggers actually giant turtles that could crawl out of their super-sized turtle shells and walk on two legs? Then I heard a loud noise and a gentle rumble that shook the entire huge green turtle shell. All of a sudden, the entire turtle shell started to move! We went backwards first, then we went forwards and then we turned left. As I looked up out of the top of the circular white room, I saw we were traveling in a HUGE forrest filled with GINORMOUS  trees. We winded down a huge mountainside, going left and then turning right. Finally the giant green turtle shell took us to a huge river. Then all the noise stopped and the male Big-Two-Legger had me in his grip again.

He slowly lifted me up to his face, and then to his mouth. I knew it! It was all a trick for the Big-Two-Legger to eat me! But then I looked at his eyes. I never actually paid much attention to the Big-Two-Legger’s eyes before. But there was a gentle glow in them, and I knew he meant me no harm and in fact, that he loved me. But still he kept pulling me closer, and closer, and closer to his mouth…

… then the Big-Two-Legger did the last thing I expected, he put me into the shallow water and set me free!

As I felt the cold, algae covered water on my turtle skin, I knew that I was finally free in my new home! I started to swim between the rocks, bobbing up and down in the water. Then I swam to the surface and looked back. There I saw a sight I will never forget. The male and female Big-Two-Leggers just stood there on the shore, hugging each other with huge smiles on their faces as they watched me swim away home to my turtle family.

Tony the Turtle – Part III

The fall knocked me out for a few seconds. I was seeing stars and was dizzy from the fall. My little turtle shell could barely handle a fall from such a great height! I could hardly move, but then the male Big-Two-Legger ran to my side and scooped me up in his arms. Maybe it was because of the fall, but all of a sudden I could understand what the Big-Two-Legers were saying! The male Big-Two-Legger was asking me if I was okay? All I could manage to do was give him a confused look him with my big, dark, turtle eyes . For some reason, I could not understand, this Big-Two-Legger appeared to really care about a little snapping turtle like me. Then after some debate, the male and female Big-Two-Leggers put me in their garden and asked me to be their pet snapping turtle.

But I didn’t want to stay in their garden and be their pet snapping turtle, despite the Big-Two-Leggers promise to give me plenty of plants, bugs, and water. All I really wanted was to be reunited with my mom, dad, and brothers, and sisters. I kept trying to escape over the edge of the wall in their garden, so I could return to my family, but it was too tall for a tiny turtle like me to climb over. The female Big-Two-Legger then said to the male, “You see, Tony doesn’t want to live in your silly garden. Maybe we should introduce them to our friends, the frogs.”  Before I could voice my opinion on the matter, the male Big-Two-Legger picked me up  and whisked me away…

These frogs were HUGE! I never saw such tall (or boring) frogs in my life. They just stood there like rocks. The Big-Two-Leggers just kept laughing and smiling at me. Maybe they were still planning to eat me after all? I didn’t care for the frogs much, they didn’t like to talk to me. I even climbed on top of one of their heads and tried to tell them that one  joke about the turtle who tried to cross the road.

But even such a funny joke like that, couldn’t get them to giggle, let alone laugh! I was tired of the Big-Two-Leggers and their weird frog friends. Would they just eat me already and get it over with! Or better yet, could they just leave me alone!  Why do they keep taking me places and introducing me to boring animals? I just want to get back with my family. Then I heard the Big-Two-Leggers begin to debate once again with on another.  Before I knew it, the Big-Two-Leggers had me back in the white circular room with no ceiling! “This is it,” I thought. “They surely are going to eat me now!”

Tony the Turtle – Part II

I woke up the next morning to an itch on my nose. As I opened my big turtle eyes, I discovered a peculiar creature perched on my little turtle nose. I wiggled my nose, and shook my head, and the creature began to flap its black and orange wings. Before I knew it, the butterfly had gracefully lifted off my nose was flying in the air! I cried out, “Wait, wait!” But, she hurriedly flew from plant to plant.  I ran as fast as my little turtle legs could carry me, and eventually I caught up to her in a green grass jungle.

However, before I could ask her to teach me to fly, the sky got black, and I felt a strong wind and deafening sound coming from above. I looked up and saw a huge metal blade whirling and cutting the tops of the green grass jungle.

I tried to run, but the wind pushed me down under the green grass jungle.Instantly, the noise, wind, and darkness ceased. But there, standing high above me, was a BIG TWO-LEGGER!

Then, all of a sudden, the Big-Two-Legger poked me with one of his claws. I pretended to be a rock (hoping the rumors about the Big-Two-Leggers intelligence to be true). But, he picked me up and lifted me high into the air. The Big-Two-Legger’s face was gigantic, his nose alone was the size of my head! I knew he was thinking of how he was going to eat me! I was sure of it!  But before he took me to his kitchen, I found myself in a white, circular room with no ceiling.

The Big-Two-Legger then began to put water into this room. Was he trying to boil me? I began to regret wandering away from my family to chase the butterfly. It was at this time that I thought all was lost. Then, the Big-Two-Legger began to put rocks in my white circular room. Did he think that they were snapping turtles like me? Next, the Big-Two-Legger put some plants in my white circular room. Was the Big-Two-Legger giving me some food? Suddenly, I heard loud laughter coming from above. I looked up, and saw a rather pretty female Big-Two-Legger!

The female Big-Two-Legger picked me up in the air next to her eyes and mouth. Was she smelling me? Did she want to eat me? She began to laugh loudly and giggle with the male Big-Two-Legger. I wonder what they were laughing about? Were they laughing at me? Were they talking about how good I would taste in their Big-Two-Legger mouths? I got very scared. I began to cry out for help, and started to move my legs as fast as I could. I felt one of my claws pinch the female Big-Two-Legger. This wasn’t a good move at all! She lost her grip on me and I tumbled towards the earth at 9.8 meters per second every second! Fortunately, I remembered my infant turtle shell training. I flipped on my back and let my shell absorb the fall.

Tony the Turtle – Part I

Hello friends, I am a turtle from the Chelydra clan of the Serpenlina tribe, but you can call me Tony. Do you want to hear about the story of my adventures with the Big-Two-Leggers? Well, settle into a hard and wet seat, and prepare for a story of daring feats, mystery, and mercy.

My story starts two weeks ago, shortly after I hatched. I was the last little turtle in my family to crawl out of my round, white, egg. As I emerged, I saw my mom, brothers, and sisters packing their shells to move to a new home.  I asked my mom, “Why do we have to move? I was the last one to hatch, and I’m not ready to move yet.” However, my mom told me, “Son, we must move immediately.  It is far too dangerous here.  I know it may be hard to believe, but around these parts, Big-Two-Leggers actually like to eat us! But don’t be scared Tony, your dad has found us a new home for us where there are no Big-Two-Leggers to be found for miles and miles. We’ll be safe there.  Now go get some sleep, we have a long journey ahead of us tomorrow. I’ll send your sister to knock on your shell in the morning before we leave.” So, I went to bed that night having scary dreams about the Big-Two-Leggers.
